Confirmation is a continuance of what has begun at our Baptism: a continuance of the developing awareness of the reality of faith and the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

At our Baptism, faith was conceived: we became part of Christ’s Body, part of his Church. Our Confirmation is the gentle unfolding of what our Baptism means.

Confirmation Programme

This starts in the Autumn and candidates are expected to attend all sessions and also complete short assignments at home. The Confirmation Mass is usually in June, depending on the Bishop’s availability. If you are not a parishioner, your child will need to make their Confirmation in your own parish. If there is a genuine reason why your child cannot make their Confirmation in your own parish, we will need your Parish Priest’s permission for the sacramental preparation/Confirmation to take place here. The deadline for Confirmation applications must be adhered to. Application Forms are available at the backs of each church, at the right time. The time for application is widely advertised and if you are a church attendee, you will be aware of it, and be able to apply in time. If, for some reason, you feel unable to get an application form completed before the deadline, you/representative must call the Parish Office (020 8953 1294) and explain your circumstances so that we can consider reserving a place for your child. Late applications cannot be considered due to various logistical reasons.

Confirmation Name & Sponsor

Confirmation candidates will be asked to choose a Confirmation Name which is the name of a saint. Their Sponsor must be a Catholic who is faithful to the teaching of the Catholic faith – over 16 years and Confirmed in the Catholic Faith.

Adult Confirmation

For many adults who missed out on their Confirmation when they were younger and would like to make their Confirmation still, we will hold an RCIA Course (Rite of Catholic Initiation of Adults). Please contact the Parish Office for details (020 8953 1294).
