What will I do for Lent? What Prayer? What Fasting? What Almsgiving?

For Prayer: Each Wednesday during Lent at 7.30pm we will have a Holy Hour with Lenten Reflection. We will have Stations of the Cross on Fridays after the morning Mass and at 7.30pm in St. Teresa’s. On Friday afternoons in the Parish Centre we will have a cuppa, a cake and a spot of religion. For adults we have a ‘Day by Day book of reflection’, we also have ‘Day by Day’ reflection books for Primary Infants and Primary Juniors, as well as a Lent Calendar for each child.

For Fasting: This is a very individual choice but it would be helpful if your sacrifice and those of the children could be turned into something very positive to reach out to those in our community who are in need. So if you are giving up something do put a monetary value on it and use the cash to give to charity.

For Almsgiving: We have asked the Foodbank to give us a list of four popular food items, per week and we would ask you to, as an individual or as a family to bring those items at the weekend. The Cardinal’s Lenten Appeal this year, which he launched in our Parish last Tuesday, is focussing on Food Poverty and Food sustainability . Another great way to reach out to those in need is to buy a ticket for the ‘Rich Man Poor Man Meal’ for £10, or sponsor an item of food or drink for the meal. This is for Uniforms for the children in Addo. There will also be the usual CAFOD collection. The envelopes will available at the back of the church.
