It’s clear that there is a massive appetite in our parish to help the people of Ukraine. People have been asking what we intend to do, and what kind of help would be most appropriate. The advice from Bishop Paul McAleenan (who is responsible for the diocese’s social outreach) is that we support the Ukrainian Catholic Church (Eparchy) emergency appeal. They have the contacts on the ground to make sure that the funds are used where they are needed the most.
To this end, we will have a collection bucket at all Masses tomorrow (Ash Wednesday) and this coming Sunday. You may instead want to donate online – and the attached link will show you how to do this.
I don’t think it’s necessary to say anything more about how important this is.
